This is a self-guided tour starting
at 451 Sheffield Road, Ithaca, New York, between Rt. 79 and Bundy Road.
Entry fee is $10, all proceeds to the Ulysses Philomathic Library general
fund.
Five gardens will be featured. These small to medium sized gardens have been designed to be maintained by the owners, with occasional help. The plants were chosen for their toughness and durability over time, reliability in our challenging climate, low maintenance and long blooming time features. All plants were purchased from local nurseries and are proven reliably hardy. These gardens are meant to inspire viewers with the knowledge that one needn’t hire a professional but can be self-maintained by devoted gardeners. Directions to the start garden: Take Rt.79 west from Greenstar/bus station in Ithaca for 3 miles. Turn right onto Sheffield Road. Go .4 mile, turn right into marked driveway. Parking is next to red polo barn, there is a bathroom inside. Proceed to the table manned by my two lovely assistants. You will be given a booklet with narratives describing the unique qualities of each garden and directions to the other gardens. For information call 607-387-9753. |
