"I must be a trial to Louise, but she is a lifesaver to me!  I am a haphazard, erratic, impulsive gardener---years ago, just as my combined periennial/vegetable garden had gotten totally out of hand , some friends gave me a gift of some of Louise's expert time.  It was the start of a lovely partnership with the daughter of dear neighbors.  She revamped the design, made it manageable for my busy working/family schedule---and over the years has helped me adjust to (and enjoy the process) the changing environment of the garden as trees grow, plants take on ideas of their own about where to thrive, and grandchildren came on the scene as energetic helpers!  She keeps the overall plan working and I look forward to the surprises she suggests for tough spots, as well as her anticipation of what is needed for in-between times in the season.  Bless her, she does the tough stuff and leaves the fun for me (and the grandchildren) ---how dear a friend and artist in my garden!"

"Well Louise, when I called upon you there was no way you could be prepared for the work ahead of you.  There was nothing but rocks buried under that clay soil, creating a very uninhabitable environment.  We had started a decorative fence to keep out deer but had no plan.  It took a tractor with a tiller many hours of rock picking and rototilling and a LOT of amendments.  Today, we have a two leveled garden, with shade plants tucked into one corner, a two foot stone wall to add more interest and elevation, and broke up an uninteresting, elongated look.  I always refer to it as our secret garden, as it is not visible until entering the front or back gate.

It is work through the growing season, but every spring, when the first bulbs appear, I know it will be a constant gift of color as the plants appear in their blooming sequence and fill the entire bed.  I consider it a gift that keeps on giving.  It was your conception of what it could be, and what I would like.  The color in late spring and early summer is unbelievable and we just love it.  We've added gifts from other gardening friends; as well as shared our own plants.  In a confined space, no plant is allowed to hog too much area, regardless of how special it may be. Thank you for all you do, you have made our little corner of the world a plant paradise."

"This is my second year as an employee of Louise. I have learned so much about installing, designing, and working the gardens. She has taught me soil prep and maintenance, caring for plants, and how to keep a garden healthy and thriving. Every aspect of her work is thoroughly thought out and well organized. She is meticulous with reason and substance, which produces a final result that is incredibly beautiful. Working for Louise is fun, exciting and challenging, like going to Perennial Garden and Design School. I've been blessed to have the opportunity to work with Louise these past two seasons."

"It is a great feeling standing up at the end of the day and looking at the progress you've made.  I've learned that gardens are something that really give back as much as you put into them, and if you are ready to work hard then you will see the results."

~Ben, a new employee after his first few days working in the gardens
